Meet Phiang Aldrich
I obtained my undergraduate degree from Iowa State University (ISU) in Ames, Iowa and my law degree from Washburn School of Law (Washburn) in Topeka, Kansas in 1999. While at Washburn, I was a civil intern with the United States Attorney’s Office and a juvenile and Child in Need of Care prosecutor intern with the Lyon County Prosecutor’s Office. After passing the Kansas bar, I worked as a domestic violence prosecutor in Kansas City, Kansas, prosecuting domestic violence and related crimes. Additionally, I handled misdemeanor crimes and traffic violations for approximately three years before my new husband’s schooling and military obligations took us on a journey to six more states before landing here in this great state of Texas in 2012.
Within those nine years, I served as a staff attorney with the Michigan Domestic Violence Prevention and Treatment Board where I worked alongside state partners to eradicate domestic and sexual violence within the state of Michigan for approximately three years. While in Missouri, stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, I started my first law firm and practiced as a sole practitioner in Missouri, where I handled family law cases, and served as a guardian ad litem and/or a CASA volunteer for children and families in need of care. After a year, I joined Legal Services of Southern Missouri, where I provided legal services to the low-income and the elderly in the areas of domestic/sexual violence, family, consumer, housing, public benefits and elder law.
After two years in Missouri, my husband received a new duty station that took us to Fort Benning, GA, for ten months prior to moving here to Texas with our three children.
I am currently licensed to practice law in the state of Texas as well as Colorado (2004, inactive member) and Missouri (2009, inactive member), but have recently resigned my Kansas bar membership. I was a former president of the Comal County Bar Association and current member of the Texas State Bar, Comal County Bar, and Hays County Bar.
